Using Special Collections for Groups
Groups of all sorts can use Special Collections materials. We're custodians of some wonderful treasures, but we don’t want them to sit in a vault and gather dust. We like to get our materials out and we're committed to sharing them, and our enthusiasm for them, with the wider public.
For hundreds of years people have been coming here to see the special things held by the University. We're happy to provide the opportunity for formal groups of visitors to the University to see some of the treasures that we're privileged to look after. Usually the selection of beautiful and significant items produced is tailored specifically to the interests of the particular group. This guarantees a memorable highlight of any visit.
Our collections are actively used in teaching to all levels of students within the University. They form the resources for classes offered by our own staff as well as by academics from a wide variety of Schools across the University, in a variety of subjects.
Younger children are equally fascinated by the source material for history, and we have an established programme of work with local school groups. Secondary pupils can also access our resources.
We'd be delighted to provide speakers and resources for illustrated talks to local community groups. If you'd like to enquire about access to our materials for a group event or activity please contact us.
