Joint programmes and research ventures have been developed by the University in conjunction with with other universities in Scotland and Europe. These collaborative programmes offer the expertise of two leading institutions and form a unique postgraduate experience.

The University of St Andrews participates in three EU-funded Erasmus Mundus programmes specifically for graduate students. The programmes are offered by the Schools of Computer Science, Modern Languages, and Physics and Astronomy, and delivered by a consortium of universities throughout Europe.

Some taught postgraduate courses are available to study via distance learning. These courses allow students who are unable to attend the University to study remotely, although they do take longer to complete than the equivalent full-time programme.
