The University's IT Services offer a wide range of services to ensure you stay connected wherever you are in the University and so you have access to support should you need it.
IT Services continue to make significant infrastructure investments to provide the best possible user experience. This includes extensive provision of wifi, Office 365, a wide range of software apps, a PC clinic, and a support service which is open seven days a week to ensure issues are dealt with efficiently and effectively.
You can gain access to the University network – and the internet – in the following ways:
- Wireless access is available across more than 95% of the University buildings, including in all halls of residence.
- Computer classrooms are distributed throughout the University, and many of them are open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. There are over 1,000 fixed computers throughout the University.
You will have access to Microsoft Office 365 on all University computers, and you will be able to install the Microsoft Office Suite on up to five of your personal devices. Your University email is provided through Office 365 and includes features such as cloud storage and other Office 365 apps.
Through the Apps Anywhere on-demand streaming service, you can access and use University software applications on any University computer and from your personal devices.
There is a secure printing, scanning, and copying facility called UniPrint that can be accessed from a wide variety of locations across the University. You can also print to a UniPrint device from your own laptop, so there's no need to bring your own printer.
The PC Clinic is a chargeable service which provides technical support and repairs for personal computing equipment. The PC Clinic team are experts in both Mac and Windows operating systems.
