Collaborations & Study Abroad Team

The CSA Team encourages and empowers students by providing a supportive and informative service as they navigate a range of academic transitions. We offer a friendly and flexible environment for students to access professional expertise, seeking to deliver a fair and consistent service and recognising the importance of pro-active, timely and responsive engagement. We work collaboratively across the University to ensure our activities and interactions contribute to the enhancement of the St Andrews student experience.

Our team is part of the Registry unit based in St Katharine's West on The Scores. The team provides central administration for University exchange and study abroad programmes, and programmes delivered collaboratively with other institutions, both in the UK and overseas.  Our remit is to provide services to Schools; services to St Andrews students studying or working abroad for credit, or participating in a collaborative programme; and services to all inbound exchange and study abroad students. We work closely with colleagues in Schools, the Proctor's Office, Admissions, Finance, and Student Services, as well as partners across the world.

Our remit also includes management of the University's Erasmus+ Extended University Charter, which enables the University to enter into Erasmus+ agreements and operate Erasmus+ Student and Staff Mobility.

Please get in touch with us if you have any comments or questions about our service.

Meet the team

Samantha Lister

Assistant Registrar (Academic Partnerships and International Experience)

I studied German and International Relations at St Andrews and spent a year in Leipzig as part of my degree programme. My year abroad gave me the confidence to travel more after graduation, but I was delighted to return to St Andrews and join the University as an Education Liaison Officer in 2005.  In my current role, I enjoy working with the CSA team, University staff and students, and partners across the world to enhance existing inbound and outbound programmes, and to develop new mobility opportunities at undergraduate and postgraduate level.

I studied Mediaeval History at St Andrews at undergraduate, masters, and doctoral level and my PhD studies regularly took me to France to conduct research. Following my studies, I had the opportunity to work in Limoges for a year on a research project. In 2013, I came back to the University to join the Undergraduate Team in Registry, and was delighted to be able to combine my experience there with previous experiences working abroad in my role as Collaborations Officer. I have responsibility for setting up varied types of collaborative agreements, whether for individual students or for wider groups, as well as for overseeing our involvement in Erasmus+ through which we have the privilege of sending students and staff across Europe to broaden their own experiences.

Bronagh Crosse

Student Mobility Officer

Photo of Bronagh I studied Italian at St Andrews and was lucky enough to spend a year in a small town called Cuneo in the North West of Italy where I worked as a British Council Language Assistant.  My time abroad not only enhanced my language skills and confidence, but it also gave me the opportunity to immerse myself completely in another culture.  On my return to St Andrews, I worked as a Study Abroad Ambassador in the CSA team before graduating in 2011.  I returned to the University in March 2015 to take up the position of Collaborations and Study Abroad Officer.  In my current role, I enjoy supporting students through the study abroad experience and helping to enhance their overseas opportunities.

I joined the University in 2006 as a Receptionist in the Principal's Office, in February 2014 I joined the CSA team on a secondment and this was made permanent in June.  I am currently working on completing my HND in Administration and Information Technology which I do part time.  I enjoy working in the CSA team and with University Staff and students and with our Exchange partners.

I had the incredible opportunity to study abroad during my undergraduate studies as a student in the United States to an institution in Africa. I still count that time as one of the most defining and influential time periods in my life. This experience abroad helped to sculpt the person that I continue to evolve into and has assisted in my ability to face challenges and take risks! My time abroad enhanced my skill sets and allowed for real world application and networking options. The confidence I gained opened some incredible doors which enhanced both my professional and academic endeavours. I feel honoured to be able to work for the Collaborations and Study Abroad team assisting St Andrews students as they explore the possibilities, experience the challenges and excitement, and implement their perceptions from studying and working abroad!

Morag Mayes

Senior Registry Administrator

I joined the University in November 2007 and have worked within Finance, the ASC, the Department of Social Anthropology and now Registry.  I believe the experience gained serves me well in my current position which focuses on enhancing the student journey.  As the administrator for the BA (International Honours) joint degree programme I would encourage not only this cohort but all collaborative students to avail themselves of our services - we are here to help!  I look forward to further interaction with students, staff and our partner institutions, whether already established or in development.

I studied Politics at the University of Edinburgh and during my studies travelled to India to conduct research.  I then completed a Masters in Peace and Conflict Studies at St. Andrews, and travelled to Bosnia and Herzegovina for a field research project.  Since then I’ve been lucky enough to travel to many different countries and have gained invaluable skills and experience from doing so.  I have been recently working in Ireland and am delighted to return to St. Andrews to take up the position of Senior Administrator for outbound students within the Collaborations and Study Abroad team.  I work to assist and support University of St. Andrews students who are participating in the study abroad programme.
